The following charts excludes one-off self builds and residential extensions.
The above verified figures show that the number of confirmed commencements of major projects by CIS for 2015 is already ahead of similar figures for the whole of 2014. The first 5 months of 2015 already shows close to a 170 % increase on the first half of 2014.
Not surprisingly the big increases are shown in commercial and residential. The figures are skewed also by the onset of some large civil schemes – the Tuam Bypass and the M17 Athenry to Tuam account for over €1b in Q1 2015 while the onset of many of the planned schools bundles and other PPP projects under the NDFA also help to account for the increase in Q2 2015.
Excluding large infrastructure and civil projects over €100m which have long time scales, the increase from the first half of 2014 compared with that of 2015 is a more modest and realistic 75% increase on confirmed commencements.
